Distributed Systems Engineer

Department: Infrastructure Distributed Sys
Location: Winston-Salem, NC

Position summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Systems Engineer to join a team of engineers in managing critical infrastructure supporting the US economy. Responsibilities include design, implementation, support and maintenance of Wintel / VMWare server / storage infrastructure across the environment. Primary objective is to ensure the reliability and resiliency of TCH production systems.

Qualifications required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and at least 10 years of experience in a distributed Windows and RHEL Server environment
  • Experience with managing and maintaining Enterprise class storage
  • Extensive experience with VMWare virtualization technologies
  • Experience with Dell backup technologies
  • Experience with Managing Windows components (Active Directory, GPO, Microsoft clustering)
  • Experience installing, administering, and troubleshooting software and hardware in large, mission critical, 24x7 production environments, preferably banking or similar financial institutions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, users, and all management levels
  • Must be able to work as part of a team as well as alone with minimum supervision

Qualifications desired

  • Experience with Dell EMC Enterprise class Compute and Storage platforms preferably VMAX, PowerScale, Isilon, Powerflex
  • Strong knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Experience with Cisco MDS and/or fiber channel
  • AWS cloud experience in a hybrid environment

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Third Level production support for all server environments.
  • Server Contingency Testing - contribute to TCH DR/BCP validation testing efforts
  • Comply with TCH Change Control standards
  • Comply with TCH Security and Risk controls
  • Test / automate deployment of upgrades - hardware, O/S, drivers, firmware, patches, etc.
  • Server Documentation/Procedural Documentation - create installation instructions for Network Operations for server modifications in the production environment
  • Audit Compliance - test and implement security settings to ensure server compliance with security and audit requirements; familiarity with industry standards such as NIST, ISO, CIS, PCI, and FFIEC

Physical demands and work environment:
Work is generally sedentary in nature. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

Occasional Travel may be required.

Employees will report to the office two to three days each week.
