Staff Accountant

Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant will perform general accounting and financial reporting functions of The Clearing House. This role will support all of the financial functions of the Finance Department with a particular emphasis on preparing and organizing financial transactions in the creation of company financial statements and compiling and reviewing those transactions for management financial reporting and documentation for external and internal auditors.


Qualifications Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Two+ years of experience in accounting or finance.
• Demonstrated experience with basic accounting principles including accruals, accounts payable, accounts receivable and prepaid expenses.
• Expert skills in MS Office Suite particularly Excel skills using pivot tables, VLOOKUP formulas and charts.
• Problem solver with an analytical mindset, excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to details.
• Experience maintaining accounting ledgers and preparing journal entries.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills (i.e., the ability to bring actionable insights through effective communication).

Qualifications desired:
• Understanding of GAAP financial statements and management reporting.
• Experience with Great Plains or similar accounting general ledger software.
• Experience with accounting month-end close process.
• Performing account analysis and reconciliations.
• Experience with Ariba or similar procurement software.
• Experience with ADP or similar payroll software.
• Experience with budgeting and profit and loss forecasting.
• Experience in financial planning and analysis and analytical reporting.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• General monthly accounting responsibilities, including support of:
o Accounts receivable
o Accounts payable
o Month-end close
o Payroll
• Creating and providing supporting documentation for external and internal auditors.

Success factors/job competencies:
• Accuracy of journal entries and overall work product.
• Reconciliations are complete and accurate.
• Tasks completed on-time.
• Ability to work independently, with the TCH Finance team and business partners.


Physical demands and work environment: Work is generally sedentary in nature. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

The position will require employees to report to an office two to three days each week.

The anticipated annual salary range for NY-based candidates for this position is $60,000-$95,000. Base salary and position level will be determined by the role, experience, skill set and location. For eligible positions, discretionary incentive compensation may be awarded contingent on personal and company performance.
